Photographs - Hong Kong 2000

Ah yes, the public transport, here you see the Hong Kong taxi. Fans of Jasper Carrot will remember his trip to Hong Kong and his thoughts of the taxi service. I can remember between my screams and panic attacks things he had said and how true they were.

I remember wondering why I had decided to even contemplate using a taxi, it was probably due to excess tiredness.

The Hong Kong taxi does not have an accelerator pedal, no, this has been replaced by a switch, fully on, fully off. The Hong Kong taxi has brakes that formula one teams would be proud of. The Hong Kong taxi driver thinks his vehicle is only 3ft across, and he is always pleased to demonstrate this.

The Hong Kong taxi driver can sense fear in his passengers, when he does, very obligingly he will speed up to try to shorten the journey, how nice !
